Sarah second baby maternity session in the studio

SARAH’S MATERNITY SESSION | STUDIO & RIVER

Sarah wanted something simple. No big plan, no mood board. Just calm, beautiful photos to remember this season.

We split the session into two halves. The first was in the studio, high key, soft light, clean background. Sarah borrowed a few pieces from my client wardrobe which took the pressure off deciding what to wear. We kept the pace slow and the direction gentle, small shifts in posture, hands on belly, quiet moments. These ended up being her favourites from the whole set.

The second half was down at the river. A completely different feel, softer and wider, with the landscape doing some of the work. It gave the session a sense of place and turned the photos into something that feels like a chapter rather than just a portrait sitting.

When it’s one person on their own, you don’t need sixty photos to tell the story. You need a handful that are strong enough to print and put on the wall. That’s what we were after, and I think we got there.

If you’re expecting and thinking about maternity photos, I’d love to hear from you, get in touch here.
