JO’S MATERNITY SESSION, HAMILTON

Jo and I have been working together for years now. Her engagement, her wedding, a few vintage pageants along the way. This one was different.

We planned it up front, three setups in the studio, then out to the park with Matt while the light was still good. The whole thing took under an hour.

I asked her to think about the baby. Not to smile, not to look anywhere in particular, just to sit with the idea of him and what the next year looks like. Then I went quiet and worked around her.

The park shots at the end are Matt’s, really. He knew exactly where to put his hands.

First baby. First time either of them has been photographed as parents.
