MARYAM — MATERNITY SESSION

Life doesn’t always pause for the important moments. Sometimes you have to decide they’re important anyway and show up for them regardless.

That’s what Maryam did.

There’s a lot happening in her world right now. Without going into details, it hasn’t been an easy season. But Maryam has never been someone who lets the hard stuff crowd out the things that matter. She’s been in front of my camera for some of the biggest chapters of her life, her wedding, her first pregnancy, her newborn, and family sessions as her son grew. This is her second maternity shoot, and she made sure it happened.

That means something.

We planned this session in three parts. The first was studio work on a white background, clean, bright, timeless. The kind of images that feel like they belong in a gallery. The second was the same studio space but completely transformed, with dark backgrounds, dramatic light, and a completely different mood. And the third was a quick 15 min session outside at golden hour, autumn light through the trees, the warmth of the end of the day wrapping everything in something softer.

Three looks. Three feels. One woman at 34 weeks, doing something she believed was worth doing.

Maryam has many of my photos printed and mounted in her home. She collects these chapters deliberately. I don’t take that lightly, being trusted to document someone’s life across that many years and that many moments is not something I treat as routine. It’s a privilege every time.

When I sent through the galleries, she wrote back: “…gorgeous.”

She was pleased she did it. I knew she would be.
