KYLIE’S FAMILY SESSION AT PAPAMOA BEACH TAURANGA
I’ve worked with Kylie before on other shoots where she’s done hair and makeup, so it seemed natural to end up photographing her family down at Papamoa Beach.
This is a big family, four girls, a little boy, and two parents who clearly have their hands full in the best way. We started with the family stuff while the light was good, the group shots, the couples, and then let the kids loose on the beach. Driftwood logs, waves, handstands, piggybacks, the full chaos. Those kids had more energy than I knew what to do with.
Dad throwing the little one in the air on the sand is one of my favourite shots from the session. You can’t fake that kind of joy.
Once the sun dropped, we stayed on for something different, some long exposure light painting portraits of Kylie on the wet sand at dusk. Completely different vibe to the family photos but a fun way to end the session. She even ended up in the ocean, which wasn’t part of the plan, but made for some great frames.
