JENNA’S LATE TERM STUDIO MATERNITY SESSION (SURROGACY)

A calm, simple studio session for a late term bump

Jenna came to me for late term maternity photos with a very specific reason: she’s a surrogate, and she wanted a way to remember this chapter properly.

No big production. No long walk to a location. Just a quiet, comfortable session in my small studio, with natural light, and a focus on a few strong images that tell the story.

Why we chose the studio

For late pregnancy, “easy” matters.

The studio makes everything simpler:

  • no walking or standing around between spots
  • no weather stress, wind, mud, or cold
  • privacy and a calm pace
  • a place to sit, breathe, reset, and take breaks whenever needed

That’s the whole point. The photos can still be beautiful, but the experience stays comfortable.

The look: light and dark

We shot a mix of high key images and darker, moodier portraits. Same subject, same space, two different feelings.

The light set is soft and airy, with a gentle silhouette feel that really suits late term pregnancy.

The darker set is more dramatic and timeless. It brings attention to shape, skin, and expression, and it gives the final gallery a bit of depth.

Keeping it flattering and true to her

Jenna asked if I could de emphasise a couple of marks, including some keyhole surgery scars. That’s a normal request, and I’m happy to do it.

My approach with retouching is simple:

  • keep skin looking like skin
  • soften distractions
  • don’t “plastic” someone into a different person

The goal is for her to recognise herself, just at her best.

You don’t need a hundred photos

With a solo maternity session, I’d rather create a small set of strong images than a huge gallery of repeats.

A handful of portraits that really land, and one that’s good enough to print and frame.

That’s how these photos become part of your home, not just something you scroll past once.

If you want an easy maternity shoot

If you’re late term, sore, tired, or just not keen on an outdoor session, a studio shoot is the easiest option.

It’s warm, private, relaxed, and we can make something beautiful without making it hard work.

If you’d like to book, send me a message with your due month and whether you want light and airy, dark and moody, or a mix of both.
